D5200 vs D600 will be a different story though and you and I both know that to be the case (resolution alone).
Of course -- I never said otherwise. But that's only if the D600 is using the same lens on the same settings and cropping to the same framing as the D5200, which a competent photographer would never do unless magnification or focal length limited.
Yep, no absolutes. FF isn't always same or better.
So I stand by my statement...No absolutes, there are times when crop will have more than one optical/IQ advantage over FF...and the opposite is true as well. Now D400 vs D800. That will be a giggle.
However, crop will never have the IQ advantage over FF if the FF sensor is at least as efficient and has at least the same pixel count.
Not true...vignetting and corner sharpness advantage in some cases go to crop with 24mp DX vs FF if you don't wish to give up resolution. The absolute statement is still false.
One honest point...In reality if you crop D800 to D7000 FOV (diffrent actual pixel densities by small margin)...D7000 gains in resolution. yes? Or is it other way around.
Same. The D7000 is 16 MP and the D800 is 36 MP: 16 MP x 1.5² = 36 MP. no
Was thinking in crop mode. From the review here...The D800, by comparison, can capture 15MP images in the 1.5x crop DX format - Slight loss in resolution over the D7K I thought.
D7000 native is 4928 x 3264=16084992
D800 native is 7360 x 4912=36152320 /2.25=16067698
I was just thinking about the actual number and couldn't remember who had the flea on a dog advantage
