Same as above...still can be an optical advantage in some cases.

Well, I'm saying it isn't, until I see pics demonstrating the contrary. For example, show me a photo of the same scene from a D800 and D7000 using the same lens and same settings, with the D800 photo cropped to the same framing as the D7000 sensor. They will look very, very, very similar.

Take that pic with the AF Nikkor 50mm f1.4g wide open of a nice flat landscape on cloudy day. There will be two obvious difference that everyone will notice. That is why I say that the absolute statement that there are not more than one optical advantage to crop is inaccurate.

...but you didn't do as I asked. I asked for pics from the D800 and D7000 of the same scene with the same lens and settings (you did that part), then the D800 photo cropped to the same framing as the D7000 photo and displayed at the same size.

So, if you would be so kind, please take that last step, and post the pics.

Remind me again why we would want to be comparing a crop to a crop?

That's just crazy talk and melts my brain! Hehe.

You should be careful. Brain melt can be a serious condition. I'm insulated against it via abnormal blood alcohol levels.

LOL! Luckily, the sun has just crossed the yardarm, and I have a lot of 'medicine' at my disposal! So I'd better get started on some 'treatment'.
