If sporting events are a big factor then a DSLR is probably what you need because CDAF is not particularly good enough for focus tracking.
However, if it's generally family orientated photos that you want to focus on, then the em5 produces great results and you will enjoy taking it everywhere, thereby maximiising photographic opportunities. These days I only take my E-P3 when travelling, yet I still enjoy using my DSLR when at home taking action shots of my grandchildren.
