I know this is the (D1-D4), D600-D800 forum, but I thought it might of interest to those of you who are interested in this lens and do not frequent the lens forum much:
That's great news, Lance. I ordered this lens as soon as it became available and I couldn't be happier with it. The lighter weight of my Lowepro backpack on my recent trip abroad to Greece was greatly appreciated.
I can well understand, not that I have it, but from all reports it is a great lens. Especially Brad Hill's report here:

After the rave review of the 70-200 f4 VR from DxOMark, I had no doubt it would also test well on Photozone.
Sharpness is high straight away from max aperture, build quality is high, bokeh is smooth, and AF is fast, and near-silent. The tripod collar isn't cheap, but is pretty much essential (unless you never, ever use a tripod).
The fact that it is sharp from wide open is a very important feature, as is the f2.8 VRII version, meaning that you do not necessarily have to stop down to get better IQ. The real benefits are that the 70-200 f4 + TC's seems to slightly outperform the 70-200 f2.8 + TC's according to Brad Hill. Only issue is that you are always one stop behind.
Clearly most photographers in this forum likely have one of the 70-200 f/2.8 VRs or the 80-200 2.8 ED lenses. But considering that for years we were hearing Nikon users complaining the that Nikon didn't produce a lens like Canon's 70-200 f4L IS, it's a surprising there isn't more buzz about this new lens.
Agreed.
I guess the fact that the 70-200 2.8 VRI is about the same price as the new f4 lens make the f4 a tough sell for some. But honestly, I'm surprised that this thread is passing through these forums with only one or two comments. I would have thought Photozone's "High Recommended" for the new Nikkor 70-200 would be bigger news.
Again, agreed.
But clearly for those looking for a 70-200 type lens, if size/weight with outstanding optics and handling are important, it's impossible to go wrong with the new Nikkor 70-200 f/4G ED VR.
Yes, and you are only losing one stop of light, but as I said, due to the fact it is sharp wide open this isn't such an issue in most cases.
By the way, I have a 70-200 f/4G ED VR Gallery with tons of samples.

Nice set of images to show off the new lens!
Anyway, kudos Nikon for creating this fine lens, and thanks for the link to Photozone review.
Best, Markus
