Typical newbie question: what DSLR should I buy? (for shooting video)

I know, I know, it's been asked a million times before: What DSLR should I buy (that is cheap and affordable)?

Main usage: to shoot video
Secondary usage (but very important): take pictures with a really blurred background with the main item in focus

I've done looads of research and am mind boggled and confused and feel like crying
My friend has a Canon 5D MKII. We've shot a few videos and know that the video is absolutely awesome

I came across a video on the net that said the Panasonic GH2 was absolutely awesome and as good as the 5D MKII (and close to MKIII). SO I've set my goal to get a GH2

I can pickup a new GH2 body for £500 - but should I not bother with this and buy something else?? Either cheaper or far better? Any alternatives to consider would be great

ALSO: what lens do I need for the video + photography I need? What costs am I looking at?
Should I buy just a body or buy a 'kit' that comes with lens?

ALSO... does anyone know if buying and using a USA version model will give me any problems??

My budget: £500 - £600 in total spend - so needs to include buying lens and anything else

Any replies would be great

Thanks

Omar
