Is it impossible to get valuable critique on such a forum?

These forums are primarily driven by pixel peepers, this is obvious with the constant fascination with test charts, high ISO noise, you name it.

Very few people here are capable of recognizing the more important aspects of photography, for a start, they won't even take you seriously if you don't have an extremely expensive full frame camera that can resolve x amount of detail at 4 million ISO.

This is still a good site if you're interested in such things (and camera problems) but why would you waste your time posting great photographs in a gear forum?

Some of my best photographs were taken with a small sensor compact with crap detail at 100%, but I will never post them here because that is the only aspect that will be discussed.

Understanding 'gear' is not understanding photography.
