Well, part of the problem is that the 60D isn't the next step up from the 50D, the 7D is. The 60D is roughly equivalent to an Elan. So, it's a bit of a mixed message that we'll see a 70D which might not continue the X0D tradition and really just be a follow up on a new line starting with the 60D.

Considering how long it's been since they released the 7D, it would probably have been clearer had they at least announced what they're planning to fill that hole.

The real concern I have is that it's not going to just be Canon and Nikon that abandon that, but the industry in general.
