Best photog locations in Colorado?

Im heading to Colorado in August this year but am starting my rip planner early

Im in 2 minds at the moment, either hire a car on way and drive from Denver to Vegas or  simply do the tourist circut of colorado.  I made it to Moab last year and loved every miniute of  it and from what ive read so far Coloado is even more spectacular.

Any advise to plan the best hot spots  in Colorado is much appreciated
