They take a snap in their garden and immediately post the pic, asking for CC. They have no idea what they try to reach. And often they dont see how bad their pictures are. And still, some people are there to say "nice shot", "awesome", and I feel it is really not helping the OP to say such things.

Absolutely true. And those commenters seem to overlook the most essential photo quality criteria, like overexposure, wornout highlights, skew horizons (occurs very often).

But to be expected as it's a gear forum. In a Photo critique forum many of the things like camera settings and focus techniques are left out doing equal injustice.

But again, I try to remember that everyone has different tastes, and I say to myself: "be nice". And I do also sometimes say "nice shot", and maybe some other guy thinks this shot is crap... Arghhh headache.

As I said, it has nothing to do with taste, but with photographic skills and knowledge about how to use gear.

Not always...but it isn't meant to be a forum for critique of photos in the way you suggest. There are 14 other forums at this site that are more devoted towards photo critique though. I would visit them if CC was the main concern.

Mako, that's true. But in that case one shouldn't comment on images at all.

Not really, I'm only suggesting that if CC in the artistic or photography sense is your primary concern/goal....their are more relevant places to ask for it. CC here will often involve tech related comments so be prepared and don't be surprised. That type of CC is also very valuable and often done well here.

But IF you comment let it be relevant and true and not the uncritical "stunning" and "awesome" comments wich do not any good for the development of the skills of the posters.

Unless you really feel that way and wish to express it. Nothing wrong with that. Not everyone is as skilled or experienced with CC. That should not be a hindrance to posting here. Any generally positive post is always a good thing and welcome here...often too many "silly" negatives.
