F31 vs P7100

I took a stroll today in warmish sunshine, with my P7100 and my old love, the F31. I took some shots with both cams and processed them normally when I got back home. When comparing cams, I am a strong believer in comparing their final product. The final product is the best image you can take (knowing the cam inside out) and then adding some normal pp before you file it away. I do not rely much on comparisons were all settings are identical on both cams. The settings should be the most appropriate for the cam you are using for the scene you are shooting. Here are 4 pairs of shots, F31 first followed by the P7100:

I would be happy with the final product of both cams. But, considering the age of the two cams and the difference in technologies used, I can only say that, had Fuji had their wits about them 6 years ago, they would/should have been on a totally different, higher plane, a different world from other compact makers.

The P7100 feels more like a real camera (very enjoyable) but the F31, with its simplicity and pocketability gives you the confidence of quickly capturing anything that crops up in your way. I hope Fuji take up the baton again with the X20, if nothing else, to do justice to their old glory...
