I am generally using an old version of XP for all my photo/printing stuff, but use Linux for everything else. For printing under Linux I was using an old version of TurboPrint (my printer is Canon iP8500). At present I am using the tools that come with my distribution (openSuSE, Gutenprint+CUPS). From times to times I was also printing to PDF/PS and then doing the job under Windows. It is true that depending on the target job one has many options, even if not all of them are as straightforward as in Windows.

Apaflo, this with editing the PPD files sounds very promising. I will have a look on how far can I get by myself and then ask, if a more specific problem has to be solved.
