Also, this lens has AF difficulties at 300mm in low light and/or low contrast and does have a bit of IQ fall-off at 300mm. So don't confused these with camera movement. The stabilisation works very well at 300mm but can't do the whole job.
I mostly intend to use the 100-300mm lens on a tripod. I mean, if it's not windy, then I should be able to get a sharp image at 300mm (600mm equiv.) at 1/4s right?
