My solution for Linux printing is, no kidding, print to PDF or PS, or render to BMP, and then open up the file on my Windows machine for printing.
I've been using Linux on my desk as a daily workhorse since 1997. I always found that getting it to print, let alone print correctly, is more trouble than it's worth. So I worked around it. Not very elegant, but it works. Just a thought for you.
