The ideal landscape lens from a specs standpoint is the 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3. The apertures on that lens is just fine for landscapes. If only it had better image quality.

A 2.8 lens has more uses than just the landscape. The discussion is about how well it can stand in for use in the landscape.
