Hey guys,

I decided to buy two lenses with your suggestions:

1. Fujian 35mm f/1.7 (silver version, hope it's genuine..)

I don't have genuine, but for the price I couldn't go wrong. It's like buying a cheap adapter.I was skeptical about its performance and indeed, it isn't sharp across the frame, but it has specific scene rendering with slightly circular bokeh. It is also very small and light, for those who care about size.

When you learn about its characteristics, you should be able to make some decent images, with a "Different" look.

Here is probably the most stupid usage of this lens, but I liked the light and didn't have other lens with me. It is a vertical panorama shot (stitched from RAWs in PP with enhanced tonal contrast) made of 7 shots and resulting in an image of some 12000 x 5000 pixels.

Normally, I would say it wouldn't be possible to stitch it, because of the soft corners, but I focused on the corners and counted on DOF to cover the center.

Here is a link to few more that I took some time ago:

2. Minolta MC Rokkor-X PG 50mm f/1.4 (with RainbowImaging adapter)

Will let you guys know how they work out!

In the land of legacy 50mm, there are tons of option. I tested Minolta MD 50 f\1.4, and several other fifty legacy lenses here:

Most of them are fine and you should be happy. If the FL suits you.

For the type of the work (street dance) that you referred, I would try to use panning techniques, or zoom pulling, or some tilted optics, that will allow you to capture the energy of the movement and lead your eye to the main characters. For that purpose, soft corners and sharp center are of a benefit, therefore I believe that Fujian is the valid choice.

I am not expert in this field, but here is one shot from a theater performance with Lansbaby, to illustrate my point.

But if you want to freeze them in action, that's different story.

Let us know how it goes...
