Digital negative

I'm not thinking about Adobe's DNG-format, but a true negative sensor. An exposure with this sensor would start with a completely white frame, unlike a traditional sensor where the image is black.

Now what are the benefits? Imagine the dynamic range, Instead of poor highlight range and good shadow range we get the opposite. This should be great for daylight shots. No more underexposing to prevent highlight clipping. The traditional camera turns into a low light tool.

To make the colors work a CMY filter array would perhaps be necessary. I know some cameras in the past used sensor with CMY filters but otherwise they were normal sensor right?

Since I'm big fan of negative film I thought why not do the same thing digitally. Is this a good idea?
