Not sure what price you're paying for the V1 but the Panasonic GX-1 is far superior and for sale at B&H $319 body only, $419 with 14-42mm lens. I'd go for the body only as there plenty of lenses available from panasonic, oly and sigma to custumize it.
The GX1 is $449 with the 14-42 kit lens at B&H (silver only, black is discontinued).
The Panasonic GX1 is a good camera, but I wouldn't say it's "far superior" to the V1, especially since the OP asked about shooting sports/action. The GX1 has better high ISO ability (about 2/3 EV) than the V1, but worse DR and color depth.
See DXOMark sensor rating and comparison (click on link below).
As far as shooting experience, the V1 has a built-in EVF and with the GX1, you need to spend another $249 to get the Panasonic accessory EVF, which works well, but adds considerable bulk to the camera.
As mentioned above, the V1 has blazing fast AF performance, and effective AF Tracking which is extremely useful for action/sports where your subjects are moving. AF Tracking is a weakness of pretty much ALL m43 cameras (and most mirrorless cameras with contrast detect AF only). In this way, the GX1 is no way near superior to the V1.
m43 has more lenses as they been around for much longer than the Nikon 1 system, but most of the better m43 lenses (25 1.4, 20 1.7, 45 1.8, 12-35 2.8) will cost you more than the GX1.
The three lenses that I'd recommend for the V1 (10-30, 30-110, 18.5 1.8) are all around $190-250 each. Great sensible pricing from Nikon and they will likely cover 95% of all shooting you do.
I've owned both the GX1 and V1, and I can recommend them both. But if you think you're going to be shooting action, or if you prefer a VF, or if you don't want to spend a huge amounts of money on lenses, I'd probably get the V1.
Good luck. Regards, Markus
Just my 2 cents, but I prefer the 10mm f2.8 to the 10-30. Very compact, faster in darker areas. I think the ideal combination is the 10mm f2.8, 18.5mm f1.8 and the 30-110. It is too bad that it one will almost have to get the kit lens 10-30 when getting the V1. Only the V2 is currently available as a body only.
