Untrained, unlead, lightly armed civilians cannot prevent a military coup -- regardless of the magazine capacity. You should know that.

I don't know about that.  Look at the numbers of the militia vs the population as a whole.

Thad said, I dont think the situation is comparable to what it is today - meaning I would place much greater odds of success in the country of little guys with guns defeating that particular armed militia in 1933 than our population dealing with our modern military.  If our modern military stood united with a repressive govenment, its hard for me to see that the citizens would stand much of a chance.
