My Nex 5r at the moment gives me more pleasing images with 3D pop?

I have a NEX 5r with 18-55 kit lens and a Nikon D7000 with 18-105 kit lens. I always like the pictures out of my Nex better than my D7000 which look flat and digital? I have tried different settings but I always like the nex. Is it maybe with the nex lens there is a greater DOF with the kit lens vs using a faster kit lens on the d7000?
