I look at it this way; For a OLY user that doesn't have a similar zoom 75-300mm mkII offers more pluses than the Pana 100-300mm
Previously the huge price difference negated all that.
75-300mm offers
- a bit more versatility in focal length,
- arguably better AF,
- arguably sharper at long end,
- smaller, lighter,
- in camera CA for jpegs,
- looks to match the camera.
The 100-300mm only has 2 things left to offer:
- 1/2 stop faster, a feature that wont make or break your photo and
- OIS that is only good for resale, But that resale feature also went down the drain cause more people will be buyn new mkII OLY now cause it is priced competitively.
I think it is fair to say that 100-300's time for Olympus future lens buyers has passed. Olympus got what they wanted. Their buyers buying their lenses.
