You are right, of course.

But I think that the new forum moderation model is rapidly reducing the impact and prevalence of those nut cases to a mere rump of what they have been for years.

Long time trolls have been promptly banned; had their posts removed within minutes or hours instead of days or weeks, if at all.

All that appear to be left are a few old or new drive-by-shooters, and the borderline ones masquerading as Olympus users, when that is sometimes highly questionable.

The new moderators appear to be doing a fair and even-handed job, AFAICT.

The new system and the people chosen both appear to be working well. The couple of forums that I visit have mostly gone off the boil. The mFT forum is still a bit out of control, but the whole of DPR seems to have suddenly become a place to talk about photography and gear.

The new moderation model has led to a flexible and rapid response from those chosen.
