You're not supposed to guess focus for f2!!!!!
You guess focus at f5.6 or smaller!
Personally, I'm considering getting the 17/1.8 specifically for the scale focusing! I shoot a lot of ultra low light interior shots and manually focusing the 17/2.8 can be a real pain, so just snapping to f7.1 and setting focus to 5 ft or 3m would be perfect!

You have no idea what I did. I focus manually zoom in (not using the scale) at f/2 in the GH2 view finder. Then, looked at distance scale indicated by focus line. I did 3 time from the edge of a table to a painting on the wall. 3 times were performed on different days (after doing some AF in between). Distance readings indicated by focus line are not consistent (too far apart).
Don't think you played it as I did.
