Finally found a decent cable lock

When I'm carrying my camera gear, maybe using it at an event, I often need to put it down for a few minutes. While I can try and keep an eye on it, I'm always worried about someone just bending down, picking it up, and walking off with it without anyone noticing. Some of the wheeled bags have cable locks built in just for this purpose.

For some time, I've been trying to find a small, light-weight, reliable, cable lock. I've tried several of those I could find but they've all been very cheaply made and fallen apart - typically, they reach a point where the lock stops working.

Thinktank make good camera bags, including one with a cable lock. I checked their Web site and they don't offer a separate cable lock, but I sent them a question about one anyway. I received a quick response that said many of their uses have tried, and like, this lock:

Mine arrived today. It is reasonably small/light and a good size and shape to throw in a camera bag. It appears to work well and is easy to use - I wish it had a combination lock instead of a key, but I can see how that wouldn't really fit the design.

Yes, the lock is worthless if someone has a pair of cable/bolt cutters, but I'm mostly concerned with someone just picking up my bag when it is in a public place and it should be fine for that. It will also be good when I'm travelling, letting me lock my bags together by their handles so someone can't casually grab one and walk off when I look away.

It feels/looks pretty solid and the reviews are good, so hopefully it will last.
