By that logic, because some people use a rubber band to keep a lens from creeping... all manufacturers should start including rubber bands with their lenses.

Afterall.... "it's what they do".

Hoods are for flare, period.

No lens manufacturer is going to stand behind repair claims from people that break a lens element because the hood just wasn't strong enough to stop the fall.

And why is the OP settling for a plastic lens hood?

I don't see him whining about a stronger  steel hood.
