But his design was finished, right? He also called a bluff to walk away when it got tough, and they called him out. He had to go. The Aussie gov't desperately wanted him back ...but he refused. It was a messy thing. Goes on in other countries with artists and politicians.

Digital photography gear is consistently inconsistent.
It showed the cultural gap between Australia and the rest of the world in the 50s/60s. His son came over to help with some renovations a few years ago and thankfully got a much better reception. I'm not sure , but I think,,,, but don't quote me Jorn Utzon still has never the finished building.
There was one good side to this, and that was I won $500 in a Opera House Lottery in my late teens. The lottery was the main form of financing the building, I think there was one a week.

Sidney Opera House plays in the same league as Eiffel tower or Taj Mahal: There are people who make the trip just to see it.
Disagreable stories happen, but the result counts.
I have heard that, makes me feel a bit silly then ,I go to Sydney every now and again and only see it from a distance. May be next time I may stop and have a good look.
