BTW on the Nikon 1 series the contrast detection AF is even quicker than on the RX100. Is amazing how that focusing type has advanced over the years.

The Nikon 1 isn't any better in low light though where pure PDAF really shines. The 1 series is not pure contrast detection but uses a hybrid CAF/PDAF system so you shouldn't use it as an example how far CDAF has advanced. Some 4/3 cameras use a fast pure CDAF system but it works best with stationary subjects. It still can't track moving objects like PDAF can. I find my RX100 is the same way. Fast on stationary objects but it doesn't track as well as my DSLRs.
