Am I able to do shallow DoF with RX100?

You don't care about IQ? Compared to a P&S at 1/3 the price the RX100 has much better IQ, much better high iso, much better low light capabilities, faster focusing and better build quality. Those things make the camera easily worth the price for a serious photographer. For a casual photographer maybe it's too much camera and too expensive.
