Hi, I know where the activity monitor is but I don't know what to do when I get there and how to read it. I probably need to shut some things down and might be able to get more speed. I'm using a 2010 macbook with mt. lion, 4gigs of ram.

What can I close and what can I leave open, and then how do I do it?

Open the window and click the 'system memory' tab. Then after using Aperture for a while, look at what it says for 'Page outs'. If it's say 4GB, you need more RAM. If it's near zero, you're OK.

That's a quick answer. I don't know enough to give a full one, but I know this is what I was told to look out for in my earlier thread, and it did indeed change as predicted when I installed more RAM. Now got 8GB and it's enough for Pentax K5 16megapixel RAWs.
