I don't have this lens yet but very close of getting it this Spring. I'm also looking for a handy monopod to go with this chubby fat boy. Any existing owners of this lens share user experience of which monopod used? I am looking at Manfrotto 681B, 679B and 680B. Also any thought of a good monopod ball head that uses Acra Swiss style plate?

This lens is well out of my paygrade, but...

I got the Manfrotto 685 monopod late last year, and think it's pretty awesome. One of the coolest aspects is the trigger release for extending the monopod; you can literally extend and retract it in a matter of seconds. It's relatively light-weight, to boot.

I use it with my 80-200 f/2.8d, which is not a light lens.
