As I was poking around the very northern tip of Newfoundland, near Cooks Harbor and Cape Norman, I came across a herd of caribou paying through the snow for their lichen food. It was late afternoon but the sun was still strong. I shot 'em with the 100-300 on my G3. Both photos were taken as ISO 160 handheld, the first at 228(456 equiv.), the second at 171(350 equiv.). The sharpness and color richness/contrast are certainly approaching the quality of similar shots I made in the past with Canon Ls, including the 300f4 IS L, 400 f5.6 L, and 70-200f4 IS L. Minimal post-processing in PS.

Great shots. The 100-300 is quite decent at 300mm, but it's right on the money in the range you were shooting.
