Here is an excerpt from the BBC radio broadcast. "The coup was aimed at toppling President Franklin D Roosevelt with the help of half-a-million war veterans. The plotters, who were alleged to involve some of the most famous families in America, (owners of Heinz, Birds Eye, Goodtea, Maxwell Hse & George Bush’s Grandfather, Prescott) believed that their country should adopt the policies of Hitler and Mussolini to beat the great depression.
Mike Thomson investigates why so little is known about this biggest ever peacetime threat to American democracy." Here is a Wiki link
as well.

I found it interesting, and thought some of you might as well. See any parallels?

Well, none of those plotting treason were hanged -- or even spoken to harshly. One law for the common people, another for the rich -- and the super-rich don't seem particularly troubled by law (or morality, often).

Indeed.

The General that the plotters called on to do this -- Smedly Butler -- wrote a book about his career. His conclusion was that the military (he was a Marine Corps General) was "hired muscle" for the corporations.

Smedly Butler comes across as a hero to me. Apparently, he was very well regarded in the military before he became a wistle blower.

Hard to argue with that, given the behaviour of the USA from the late 19th through early 20th century.

Agreed.

Just further proof of why we need the Second Amendment.

Agreed, but.... sometimes an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Meaning - before we enter a revolution with guns, perhaps political and legal solutions coming from a non-brainwashed electorate imposing its will over the elite?

The first thing that comes to my mind from this is lesson in history is that we the people need to be more informed and aware of those that are pulling the strings behind the scenes. But yes, more proof for a need of the second amendment as well Dave
