Monitor Calibration , mostly color correction or brightness equally ?

I like this idea, simple and a lot of my friends can do benefit from this concept.

I got an old v1 calibration tool when v2 was released for about $40.  I use that now with Argyll to calibrate my monitors.  Because of my setup, I am not sure I can comment on the biggest benefit.  My biggest problem was intensity.
