Why will there be dust spots on DPM's? Isn't a fixed lens cam supposed to be free of these things?

If the sensor and all the remaining parts are not thoroughly cleaned and moved into a clean room for assembly - it most likely have dust.

There should not be dust in a sealed camera.  However, you might get some mole growth.  Again a reason for thoroughly cleaning and assembling in a clean room.

Sigma is not known for its high standards of quality control. That is the main reason I do not buy Sigma lenses - although they do make some attractive offerings.  Send the camera back.  It's a pain in the butt, however, you should not have to live with dust on the sensor of a sealed camera.
