D4 or D800 for Video?
Jan 30, 2013

I have a wedding coming up and the bride has asked for a shot of their first kiss with the audience in the background - so a camera needs to be behind the person performing the ceremony.

There is a place I can mount a camera on a magic arm. I'm thinking that if I can get a camera that I can control remotely, ideally from an iPhone or iPad, I can get that image. Since I have a camera there, I thought maybe I'd take a video of the ceremony and work in a video of the exchange of vows in with stills and make a fusion slideshow. Could be cool if I can pull it off.

I have a D3s as my main body and D700 and D300s as backups. Yeah, the D300s does video, but it doesn't work well in low light situations and since I don't know what the lighting is yet, I want a better camera.

Which brings me to my question - should I get a D4 or D800? Is there a clear winner that does video well and lets me operate it from remote control somehow (Pocket Wizard?)?
