Cool. Did not work for me, though.

Also, why does Vimeo even think that someone wants to watch a clip in SD that was uploaded in HD? This would have made some sense a few years ago, but it makes zero sense in the year 2013. Besides, what does "HD" mean on Vimeo, anyhow? On You Tube, they will let you see a drop-down list and select from the actual resolutions, usually from 480p all the way to 1080p.

Yeah, I wanted to put it on YouTube in 1080p, but they won't allow me to upload anything longer than 15 minutes.

Well, they do tell you that, but did you actually try to upload your film and see if it took? I see plenty of full length movies uploaded there in single files as well.

Supposedly there's a procedure for enabling uploading of longer videos by "verifying" your account, but this requires having a code sent to your phone by SMS. And unfortunately, YouTube has problems sending SMS to certain cell networks in Japan (it's a known issue), so there's no way for me to complete the "verification" process, and I'm therefore left with Vimeo. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Okay, understood. I would nonetheless try to upload your short film to You Tube in 1080p (or at least in 720p), my money says that even though it is longer than 15 minutes, it will be done all right for you. The 15 minute clip length is more of a suggestion, really, not a hardcore rule.

Let me know if you can do it, Keith!

Well, I tried to upload the whole thing to YouTube again and it rejected the film for being over 15 minutes, telling me to verify my account to enable long video uploads. Unfortunately, there is a known issue where Google/Youtube is unable to send the verification SMS to those of us living in Japan, so at this time, there's no way I can upload the complete film to Youtube, whether in 1080p or 720p. I've done a bit of searching on this subject and I'm not the only one suffering from this (here's another guy: https://plus.google.com/106543258884503418039/posts/biGL5TbZVhN). Anyway, I suspect that the longer films you've seen on Youtube were uploaded by users outside Japan.

Next time I'm on vacation in the U.S., I'll try this again. I know that Youtube quality is much better...

Thanks!
