Do you use layered Tifs?

Hi all.
Just a simple question that I was discussing in these days.
To save layered images, there are several possibilities, also depending on the program used.
For example PS allows, besides the .psd files, to also save layered .tif, while PSP can save layered .psd or the native .psp, but flattens the tif files to one single layer.
So the question is: do you use layered tifs or do you prefer to work in one of the other formats?
One advantage of tifs respect to the others should be the possible compression, but not all the programs are able to open them correctly. What do you think?
