100-300 lens choice: Pana or Oly?
Jan 30, 2013

I am now considering purchasing one such long zoom. I have an Oly OMD EM5 w/kit zoom (very happy with it) and a Pana 20/1.7.

I really cannot understand why I should buy the Oly 75-300. Assuming both lenses perform well enough the Pana is a little faster and has OIS. In other words it can be used on Oly and Pana bodies with equally good results. The Oly on the contrary is for Olympus bodies only (if IS is an issue and it should be at 600mm). The 75-300 is a bit lighter and smaller but not by that much. The same can be said about the MkII version.

Please correct me if I am wrong or missing something. And then I might end up with the Oly.

Thank u for your precious input,
