Rumors say a lot of things, and most of them are wrong. As it stands now, Canon is the same weight as the Nikkor.

I'm also worried that this means Nikon won't be working hard to lighten it's current supertele's as much as it could have. But again, this is just speculation.

I think they will follow Canon's lead - they will lighten them, they will make them optically even better, but this must come at an increased cost.
