Good points. I only use FastStone so I am only familiar with it. When I have a Raw file selected for viewing I am able to look at the file info and I can see that it says that my file is 2.76 mp so I am assured that I am looking at the embedded Jpeg. Plus, since I am used to FastStone I can see that I can't zoom in as far and see the details like I can with a Jpeg converted from the Raw file. I like looking at the embedded Jpeg files in my viewer because it loads them quickly and since they are already processed they are a close representation of the Raw files that I process myself.

It is good to know how your image viewer displays your images and especially what file type you are viewing.
