Yes, you can. The 24-105 is getting older and resolution wise its not up to date anymore. According to the reviews I have seen so far you get clearly better resolution either with the new Canon 24-70 f4 IS or the Tamron 24-70 f2.8 VC. The latter being 2.8 which is a huge advantage for many of us! Of course resolution isn't everything but check out the reviews! Both of those lenses are really good in most other respects too.

I'm sure they are worth considering....I think I will give the 24-105 some time and see how I like it, and in the meantime, I will check out the reviews on the ones you mentioned...thanks
