Some people like to print photos larger than a postcard and compact cameras with tiny sensors suck for that, this lens will work well for video also.

Why do you think a 16MP MFT camera with a dog slow superzoom will be better for printing large photos than a 16mp bridge camera with a 10x zoom? What magic quality, at base ISO, do you think an MFT sensor brings to the party? And do you not see that in low light an f5.8 lens will need the ISO cranked right up, thus losing any noise advantage the MFT camera had? I normally sell 30X40 inch shots myself, and I won't be touching this thing with a 30 foot, rubber tipped, disinfected bargepole. Wearing gloves.

First of all you know nothing about how this lens will perform, you are assuming that it will suck just because it is slow. Not everybody needs a low light lens, you don't have to crank up the ISO if you have good light.

I hate tiny sensor cameras with crazy zoom ratios, I have yet to see one that can make a decent large photo, I don't like to print anything smaller than 16"x20" myself. 16 megapixels is plenty for a 16"x20" print,

can make a decent 16 x 20" 200dpi print.

Resolution is not the issue.

consistent sharpness across the field, lack of aberations, vignetting, etc. are the issue.

If you want to make nice 16 x 20" prints, you really should use the best lens you can unless the composition and subject are very compelling.

I have printed photos larger than that with half that many and you can walk right up to the picture and it still looks good.

Well, I supect you were using a pretty good lens, not a super zoom.

Yes I used Canon L Lenses that were very expensive, you won't know how well this lens performs until it is released.

that it will not be as good as a prime in the focal lenght you need.

Gauranteed.

Period.

Tedolph

Probably not, but it may be plenty good enough.  And a bit cheaper and more convenient than six primes.
