Re: The 'Simple' Question Is Why Did Oly Choose That Sensor Instead Of A Canon S110 Sized

Sorry if I was unclear.

I just do not understand why Oly, knowing that the competition has produced pocket sized cameras with larger sensors (S110 etc.) and lower prices...would choose such a small sensor at their not so low price point. Seems like this camera has no advantage over existing small cameras that are already available at lower prices.

What was Oly thinking? Why would anyone purchase this camera given its specifications and price?

Am I missing something important???

See my other reply. Because it fits in your pocket, and has a bright tele lens. ´╗┐No other camera before the XZ-1 had this combination.

By the way, the difference between 1/1.7" and 1/2.3" is smaller than you might think. Just check out Pentax Q images, it uses a 1/2.3" sensor and its ISO is quite competitive, especially when you compare its ISO 200 with a m43 ISO 1600.
