Need advice re long telephoto lenses

I have the DA* 300mm. I love it. But I still maintain, the 55-300mm is no mean slouch.

As I said, irrespective of focal length, you need to get in close. This lens, at 300mm has very good IQ. Miles Green mentioned a Hide. Yes - most strongly recommended. All of these have been printed in various publications (mags/ newsletters etc) and they look quite nice. the toiler I have blown up 18 x 12 inches... and looks absolutely great!
