I would look to your Monitor Profile. If you are working with Lightroom you need to have your monitor properly profiled/calibrated with a hardware device like "Eye One Display or Spyder one.
Both Lightroom and Photoshop Cs /Elements will use the default Operating System monitor profile to display your images. Lightroom's working color space is a variant of ProPhotoRGB (this you cannot change) PS CS/Elements you can change the color working space but if you are working in conjunction with Lightroom its best to use ProPhoto RGB.
If you do not have your monitor properly profiled /calibrated you are in a crap shoot, what you see is what you get in various programs. I
think Adobe needs to specify this in their system requirements.
