I got a chance to evaluate one and you know, it's not a bad lens at all. This is going to sound strange, but I think it's worth exactly what they are charging for it. It's reasonably sharp, with reasonably decent contrast, and the AF was fast and accurate. Does it have the "bite" and crispness and contrast of the better nano-coated Nikon 24-70 - no, no it simply doesn't. It flares more too. But at the same time, if you can't afford or don't need a top tier 24-70's, it's certainly quite a good lens at a more affordable price point. I expect it will sell well. Probably  better matched to a D600 than a D800 though IMO.
