The Canon MT-24EX Macro Lite Flash works well with the 65mm macro lens. It has a built in focusing beam which is needed when using high magnification, at 5X magnification and F16 you are operating at an equivalent of F96 and the image is too dark to focus except in very strong direct sunlight.

Many photographers develop ways to diffuse the light from the twin flash to reduce over bright highlights. STEB1 eventually developed the concave diffuser which he uses to produce some brilliant macro photographs. A photograph of his diffuser set-up is included in this set images.
