X10: Orbing or not orbing? Testshoots and comparison X10 - S5pro

Hello fellows.

I'm completely new to this, so I need to know two things:

- Is this test shoot done the right way to figure out whether the camera is "orbing" or not? (maybe the points are not bright enough, or they are to large?)

- If you consider, that the test shots are good to give us an answer: is the result showing something suspicious that might indicate some "orbing", or is it clean?

Background:

I just got my new (used) X10. Nice camera all in all. However, I was a bit concerned about the orbing rumors... Fujifilm, who sold it directly to me, told me, that they did not know, wheter this camera was subject to the orbing issue or not. And that the serial number (its a 22M) would not tell, as some sensors of the same series did not behave the same. According to them, even some of the older series are immune to orbing and others orb... So I did test shots and compared the outcome to the results of my s5pro.

x10 is first, s5pro is second. The 3rd image is the entire x10 to show the crop factor.

X10. Crop. iso 100. 28mm. f/2.8. 1 sec. exposure

S5pro was with a 20mm Nikon lens (30mm equivalent), f/2.8, 1 sec. exposure.

What surprised me a bit, was to see, that in some areas and some of the test shoots (not all of them are here of course), the S5pro seemd to give more details. However, for the purpose of this little comparison (orbs...) I did not care too much about exact focussing etc. I intend to do a comparison about this, too. It would be interesting to find out, wether the 12mp cmos really gives more detail, than the already rather old 6/12mp "superCCD".

Back to the topic:

Given the pictures, I believe, my X10 is not an "orbing" one. However, maybe my test shots are not up to the requirements to find that out?
