Thanks Dule/Digital Nigel for the interesting debate and the time you've both taken to post examples.

Clearly the Canon does have better IS, and based on your examples maybe up to 2 stops.

The photo of the girl though doesn't really demonstrate this though. At 1/40 sec the RX100 is sharp enough - but there does seem to be an issue with exposure/lighting or a high contrast setting in the RX100 image as her face just looks in deep shadow.
