It's called the D700. People think that the D800 is an update to the D700 and they'll be updating this line every 3 years, but rather they're updating two different lines every 6 years. Canon is doing something similar... 5D Mk II vs 5D Mk III. The D700 is still a great camera and a speed beast with the added grip. The issue is not canibalizing the D4 market or the D800 market. The issue is that 70% of the people who need a Nikon that can shoot high FPS but don't want to pay $6k will have already bought a D700 or D3(s). In 2-3 years you'll probably see a D900 that is around 16-24MP that has high FPS and you'll hear all the people complaining why on earth would Nikon put out such a low resolution camera and do nothing for the studio/landscape shooters (just like they complained when the D700 came out).
