Anyway I've got 12gig of RAM running a first generation (Bloomfield) i7-950 (3.06GHz) with an OCZ 256 SSD drive on Windows 7 x64 and have no slowdown issues. And, like the OP, I too have another SSD drive in my system that I use to work with and process my NEF files.

I'll also add that I sometimes run files off my 1TB western digital hard drive, and still had no slowdown issues. This is with 14 bit uncompressed RAW files taken with a D800E.

New to this forum, not to forums!

I've been planning a system upgrade and have been thinking of a fast SSD to process (LR4, PS CS6, Unified Color Expose) large files (up to 1.7GB stiched, with layers, etc.) and then put the files onto HDDs as large volume SSD storage is still not affordable.

I'm curious, have you found an efficient way to work in LR, open files to PS, save back to LR, and then eventually move them to a HDD for longer term storage?

As I've been thinking about it, this seems like it will be fairly manual at the end of processing any given set of images.

Your approach/strategy on this would be helpful!
